A youthful entrepreneur from Mweiga, Nyeri in Kenya, has died hours after predicting his death on Facebook.
Tony Weru was on Tuesday rushed to Nyeri Provincial General Hospital after developing breathing problems and was put on oxygen.
On the evening of the same day, he took to the Digital Farmers Facebook group, saying he had tested positive for COVID-19 but didn’t know where he contracted it.
“COVID-19 is real, if I die, I don’t know where I contracted it,” he posted.
Moments later, he also posted in the same group bidding goodbye to the users.
“I’m leaving you through COVID-19,” he said, sharing a photo of himself wearing a face mask with a seemingly sweaty face.
By midnight, he was pronounced dead.
In the group, which has approximately 430,000 members, the deceased was known for his strawberry farming and beekeeping expertise.
COVID-19 in its third wave has killed many in the country. Kenyans are forced to live through hardships that have been caused by the virus leaving many jobless. The government has also put in place strict rules and measures that will help in the fight against the virus.
