Young Man Brutally Murdered By Suspected Headsmen Laid To Rest

A 25-year-old man has been laid to rest in his hometown in Adamawa State after being brutally murdered by suspected herdsmen.

Sheriff Yongo, from Dong in Adamawa State’s Demsa Local Government Area, was assassinated while returning from a Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) convention in Numan.
Two other people, Gambo Dong and Benedict Paul, were able to flee the violent attack that took place on Saturday night, March 5. On March 8, he was laid to rest.
While relating the incident to newsmen, eyewitnesses Gambo and Benedict stated that the perpetrators, presumed to be Fulani herdsmen, ambushed them before Dong Village in the night and attacked them as they were returning home after the evening session of the church convention.
“They opened touch light on us and staged themselves group by group, we ran into the bush while Sheriff was caught by the assailants. We waited to see him but to no avail only to discovered his body was matcheted, battered and his hand and fingers cut-off,”
“This brutal killings has been persistent along Dong axis, we loss so many youths and kidnappings has also been in the increase”.
Late Sheriff, according to Gambo, is a member of the Primary Health Care Dong staff.
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State House of Assembly has requested the government of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to investigate the circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.
The assembly, presided over by its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, resolved and requested the government to begin an investigation into the event on Tuesday.
The assembly took action in response to an issue of urgent public interest brought before it by Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno, member of the Demsa constituency.
Similarly, the assembly has urged the executive branch and security forces to boost the number of security personnel in the Dong community in particular in order to reduce security threats.
The Honourable Members unanimously expressed their condolences and condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the Dong community, and the whole Demsa LGA in the aftermath of the attack.
