Your Activities Are Destroying Water Facilities, Lagos Govt Tells Telcos

The Lagos state government has raised concerns over the effect of recent activities of telecommunication companies on water facilities in the states.

The telecom companies have embarked on digging of trenches across the state for installation of underground cables.

Though the reasons for the installation of these cables has not been disclosed, there are speculations that it is part of the ground work for the official launching of 5G network in the country.

But in statement by the Lagos water corporation (LWC), the state government frown upon the activities of the telcos, saying its undermined its effort and drive for the provision of clean, potable and affordable water to some residents of the state.

It noted that the development is having adverse effects on its operations as its facilities, especially pipelines, are being damaged.

The statement read “The attention of Lagos Water Corporation has been drawn to various cases of LWC mains (pipes) being damaged by the ongoing installation of underground fibers/cables through the activities of some Telecom Companies across the State.

“The activities are adversly impacting our Operations, particularly, the supply of potable water to our numerous premium Customers in Lagos State”

The corporation implore residents of the state to report any damage to its facilities by the activities of the telecoms companies.
