EDITOR’S PICK:
Your brain is one of the most complicated and intriguing organs in your body, made up of billions of neurons (or nerve cells) that communicate through trillions of connections called synapses.
1. Sixty per cent of the human brain is made of fat
The brain is the fattest organ in the human body, and it needs these fatty acids to function probably. Make sure you’re providing it with the right nutrition to keep it healthy and sharp.
2. Your brain isn’t fully formed until age 25
Brain development begins from the back of the brain and works its way to the front. Therefore, your frontal lobes, which control planning and reasoning, are the last to strengthen and structure connections. You would need to be up to 25, for your brain to be formed fully.
3. Your brain’s storage capacity is considered virtually unlimited
Research suggests the human brain consists of about 86 billion neurons. Each neuron forms connections to other neurons, which could add up to 1 quadrillion (1,000 trillion) connections. Over time, these neurons can combine, increasing storage capacity. Basically, it is impossible to fill up your brain.
4. It’s a myth that you only use 10 per cent of your brain
We have all heard the saying, that we use just 10% of our brains, but that is a lie, we actually use 100% of it. You actually use all of it. (Yes, even when you are sleeping.) Neurologists confirm that your brain is always active.

5. The human brain weighs 3 pounds
The average human brain weighs about 3 pounds. (That’s about as much as a half-gallon of milk.) However, size does not always imply intelligence. Men tend to have larger brains than women.
