EKO HOT BLOG reports that the incident occurred when the lawmaker mounted the stage to address a large crowd gathered for the event.
Shortly after he began speaking, some youths in the audience interrupted his speech, accusing him of poor performance and claiming that his representation had not been felt in the constituency.
The protesters repeatedly chanted in Igbo, saying, “Dede lotuo, igaghi aga ozo, nke igara aga, adighi ihe anyi huru,” which translates to a call for the lawmaker to step down, while expressing dissatisfaction with his performance.
Despite attempts by Alozie Munachim to respond to the criticisms and highlight his achievements, the crowd continued to express disapproval, preventing him from addressing them fully.
The situation created tension at the venue, although it did not escalate into violence as security and supporters intervened to maintain order.
Some supporters of the federal lawmaker condemned the actions of the youths, describing the incident as embarrassing and capable of disrupting the political gathering.
A member of the Munachim Alozie support group, Kenneth Nzube, said the lawmaker handled the situation with restraint despite the provocation.
“The behaviour of the youths was provocative and could have sparked off violence, but I am happy that Honourable Alozie maintained his usual peaceful character,” Nzube was quoted as saying.
He added that the lawmaker remained calm throughout the incident, despite the public display of dissatisfaction from constituents.
