Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has deployed more personnel, and patrol and tow vehicles to strategic locations across the state.
The agency’s spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq, revealed the development in a statement on Saturday.
He said the deployment is part of LASTMA’s statutory responsibilities in ensuring unimpeded flow of traffic across the state.
On his part, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, disclosed that the agency is specifically dedicated to ensuring free-flow of traffic and prompt response to any infractions that could by any means extend the journey time of motorists.
“The Agency carried out an annual ‘Ember Months Road Safety Advocacy Campaign’ accompanied by aggressive public enlightenment, traffic control, rescue operation, and enforcement,” Bakare-Oki said.
He admonished the motoring public to make use of the State Emergency toll – free numbers ‘112 & 767’ or call any of these LASTMA hotlines (08100565860, 08129928503 & 08129928515) for prompt intervention in case of any road emergencies across the state.
While urging road users to always cooperate with Lastma personnel on the road, Mr. Bakare-Oki warned motorists against seat-belt, overloading, speeding, use of phones while driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs as contained inside the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018.
The festive known is known for witnessing increased road accidents due to increased traffic and overspeeding to reach destination.
