‘No Wrongdoing’ — Yvonne Jegede Defends Yul Edochie’s Polygamy
By Fikayo Babalola
Yvonne Jegede has defended Yul Edochie’s polygamy.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Nollywood Actress Yvonne Jegede has weighed in on Yul Edochie’s polygamy, saying his criticism was unwarranted.
Jegede spoke on the recent episode of ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast.
The actress defended Edochie’s choice, stating that she saw nothing inherently wrong with him embracing polygamy and taking a second wife.
She stated that, “You see this same Yul Edochie ehn, 99% of people that are abusing him on the internet are from second wives, third wives, fourth wives and even, fifth wives.
“Sometimes some of them come from wives that the family does not even know about. Let’s all stop being silly on the internet.”
Jegede continued, “He is owning his BS with his chest but nobody is going to support him. Even me, I have to stand with the crowd so they don’t curse me. I don’t see anything he’s done wrong, most of us are from second wives.”
The actress continues to show her support for Edochie, pointing out the hypocrisy in how society views polygamy.
She cited the example of Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels, and wondering why their relationship is widely accepted while Edochie faces criticism.
“We curse Yul Edochie, but praise Regina Daniels as a role model, saying she’s the only one who can advise on marriage,” Jegede said.
“Why are we cursing the guy? They would curse him and leave Ned Nwoko alone and say Regina Daniels is your prayer point and she’s the only one that can advise you about marriage. These are the comments I see.”
Recall that Edochie’s marriage to May Yul-Edochie, his estranged wife of 19 years, ended in a contentious divorce filing in 2023, with May alleging adultery and seeking ₦100 million in damages, shortly before Yul married his second wife, Judy Austin.
