Zambian President Fires 6 Permanent Secretaries

  • Emmanuel Ngulube, from the private sector, has been appointed Permanent Secretary (Administration) in the Ministry of Health. Mathew Ngulube who was Executive Director of the National Council for Construction, has been promoted to the position of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government.

Zambian President Edgar Lungu has terminated the contracts of six permanent secretaries in his administration.

According to a statement released by State House on Tuesday, the President terminated the contracts of permanent secretaries – Ms. Mulalelo Kakulubelwa, who was in charge of Administration in the Ministry of Health, Edward Chomba of the Ministry of Local Government, and Auxilia Ponga of the Ministry of Tourism.

Others fired are Stardy Mwale, Remuneration the in Cabinet Office, Joe Kapembwa of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Child Development, and Charles Sipanje, Northern Province Permanent Secretary.

The head of State has also promoted directors from different ministries to fill the gaps dreated by the dismissals.

Those promoted are include Lennox Kalonde, who was Director in the Ministry of Local Government becomes Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Supply. Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development Director John Phiri has been promoted to Permanent Secretary in the same ministry.

Others promoted: Zambia News and Information Services director Patrick Lungu who becomes Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Tourism, while Davison Mulenga, until now Deputy Permanent Secretary for Northern Province, is promoted to the position of Permanent Secretary for Muchinga Province, and Luapula Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Royd Chakaba becomes Permanent Secretary for Northern Province.

The President swore-in the new Permanent Secretaries on Tuesday.
