EKO HOT BLOG reports that Zenith Bank Plc has once again been recognized as the Best Bank in Nigeria in the Global Finance Best Banks Awards 2024, marking the fourth consecutive year of this achievement.
In a statement released on Monday, the bank confirmed its continued success in securing this prestigious accolade, a feat it has maintained since 2019.
Zenith Bank was honored alongside banks from 36 countries across Africa as Global Finance unveiled the winners of its 31st Annual Best Bank Awards.
The selection process for the awards involved extensive consultations with corporate financial executives, bankers, banking consultants, and analysts worldwide, with factors such as asset growth, profitability, geographic reach, strategic relationships, new business development, and product innovation all taken into account.
The opinions of equity analysts, credit rating analysts, banking consultants, and other industry experts were also considered in determining the top banks deserving of recognition.
Commenting on the award, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive of Zenith Bank, Dr Ebenezer Onyeagwu, said, “This award serves as a powerful affirmation of our resilience and tenacity despite headwinds and a very challenging macroeconomic environment.
“Indeed, it is a testament to our status as the leading financial institution in Nigeria, dedicated unwaveringly to delivering exceptional value to our stakeholders.”
He further hailed the founder and Chairman of Zenith Bank Plc, Jim Ovia, for his exceptional vision and foundational role in establishing a resilient and enduring financial institution.
He also lauded the board for its astute insights and exemplary leadership, the staff for their steadfast commitment and unwavering dedication, and the customers for their staunch loyalty to the brand.
Joseph Giarraputo, Publisher and Editorial Director of Global Finance, remarked, “The banking industry is experiencing a transformative period with the introduction of generative artificial intelligence, poised to redefine industry norms. Amidst this dynamic landscape, the Best Bank Awards acknowledge financial institutions that excel in offering a comprehensive range of services, demonstrating long-term reliability, and driving technological innovation.”
Zenith Bank has recently appointed Adaora Umeoji as the successor to Onyeagwu, whose tenure is set to conclude by the end of May 2023.
