EKO HOT BLOG reports that Zinedine Zidane, the former French player and manager, has reportedly set a condition for his return to Real Madrid as the club’s manager.
According to Spanish publication Sport, Zidane has informed Real Madrid President Florentino Perez that he would only make a return to Santiago Bernabeu if Perez agrees to sign French sensation Rayan Cherki.
The move would make sense for Zidane, who is reportedly a huge admirer of Cherki and is keen to work with the highly-rated young player.
Cherki is widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in European football, and Zidane’s interest in the versatile forward is said to be a significant factor in his potential return to the Spanish giants.
Zidane’s return could be imminent as the future of current manager Carlo Ancelotti is not certain.
Despite leading Real Madrid to La Liga and Champions League success last season, Ancelotti’s position at the club has come under scrutiny. With Real Madrid currently sitting in second place in the league, eight points behind arch-rivals Barcelona, there has been speculation that changes could be made to the club’s management.
It remains to be seen whether Zidane’s condition will be met and whether he will indeed return to Real Madrid. Regardless, the move would certainly add an interesting new twist to the ongoing narrative surrounding the Spanish giants and their pursuit of success in LaLiga.
