Eko Hot Blog reports that Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has described Vice President Kashim Shettima as a “great and humble mentor” on his 57th birthday.
In a statement by his aide, Zulum said Shettima is “very difficult to find” and that he has “liberally given us (his mentees) the rare opportunities of using what we have learnt from him to independently create our own identities of leadership for the benefit of our people in Borno State and beyond.”
Zulum also quoted a saying by Steven Spielberg, which says: “The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves.”
He said Shettima has followed this advice in his own mentoring style, and that he is grateful for the opportunity to have learned from him.
Zulum concluded by wishing Shettima many more years of good health, strength, faith, wisdom, inner peace, and prosperity.
