15 Maulud Celebrants Killed In Fatal Kaduna-Saminaka Road Accident

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of 15 Maulud celebrants in a fatal accident along the Kaduna-Saminaka Road in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The accident occurred around 1 p.m. on Sunday when a J5 commercial bus, with the registration number NSL 08 AA, collided with a DAF trailer, registered DKA 454 XY, near LEA Primary School in Lere.

According to Daily Trust, Ahmad Dayyabu, one of the event organizers, told BBC Hausa that the overcrowded bus collided head-on with the oncoming truck near Lere town. He reported that around 40 people had lost their lives in the crash.

Dayyabu explained that the bus, which had departed from Kwandare, was heading towards Saminaka but was involved in the collision when it reached Lere.

However, the FRSC clarified that 15 people, including the J5 bus driver, Mukailu Musa, died on the spot.

The FRSC also revealed that a total of 63 people were involved in the accident, and more than 43 others sustained various injuries. The injured were rushed to Comprehensive Hospital Saminaka for treatment.

FRSC Sector Commander Kabir Nadabo confirmed the details, stating, “Yes, the incident happened on Sunday around 1 p.m. near LEA Primary School Lere, involving about 63 individuals from both vehicles. When our rescue team arrived, we confirmed 15 deaths, including the driver, while over 43 others were taken to the hospital for treatment.”

Nadabo added that an official update on the incident would be provided on Tuesday. He also noted that the rescue operation involved the police, the Kaduna Law Enforcement Transport Authority (KASTLEA), and FRSC officials who helped evacuate the victims.
