2021 Lagos City Marathon: Lagos Govt Could Impose Curfew On February 13

Organisers of Access-Lagos City Marathon are in talks with Lagos State Government on the need to impose a curfew from 6am to 12 pm, to keep fans away from the streets during the 6th edition of the annual race on February 13.
Consultant to the silver label event, Bukola Olopade said it was one of several measures put in place to curtail further spread of the coronavirus pandemic during the exercise.
Olopade gave the assurance that the exercise will be beamed live on television across the world, as he revealed the many plans in place to ensure adequate protection for all participants, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
“We have rolled out some stringent measures to curtail the pread of COVID-19. The event will hold and we have received clearance from all relevant authorities in the country. We urge the fans to stay at home and monitor the event on television. There will be no need to come out in the streets because it will be beamed live across the world like other similar sporting events at this time. We are talking with Lagos State Government to put a curfew in place between 6am to 12pm when the race would have ended,” Olapade said on Channels Television on Tuesday morning.

Some salient ABLCM 2021 COVID 19 measures to ensure the safety of everybody as published on the Race’s official website include; reduction of number of runners from 100,000 to 300, cancellation of 10km family fun run, all members of the workforce, including volunteers and other auxiliary workers, to undergo a compulsory Covid-19 test.
Also the live broadcast of event on all television and multi-media channels to ensure people are not on the street to cheer runners, zero entertainment at the finish point, all other runners to pick their medals at the Marathon Office on designated dates to prevent crowding, tight security at the start, the finish, and along the route, passes to screen workers and prevent crowding in several places.
