He explained that his passion for ICT stems from the role technology has played in shaping his personal and professional journey.
“Every child today must be computer literate. ICT is the common denominator that will allow Africans to compete globally,” Hamzat stated.
He emphasised that no government can meet all development needs alone, urging privileged individuals to support communities and complement state efforts.
The Deputy Governor noted that the new facility would ease access to technology for pupils and enhance their competitiveness in a fast-changing digital world.

The event also featured commendations from prominent figures. Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, a member of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC), urged pupils and teachers to preserve the facility and maximise its use. Similarly, Hon. Moses Fayinka, who represents Mushin Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, described the centre as a “strategic investment” in preparing young learners for the future.
In her address, the Education Secretary of Mushin Local Government Education Authority, Princess Olufemi Akinlude, said the centre marks a “historic milestone” in transforming education in Lagos. She described it as more than just infrastructure, but a “gateway to opportunities, a hub for creativity, and a launchpad for innovation.”
The ICT Centre is expected to serve not only the pupils of Odu Abore Memorial Primary School but also the wider Mushin community as a training and empowerment hub.
