Outgoing representative Susumu expressed appreciation for his time in Nigeria, commending the partnership with government institutions and promising to continue facilitating projects from JICA’s Tokyo headquarters.

Earlier, Acting Permanent Secretary Dr Sampson Ebimaro highlighted the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Japan, noting JICA’s contributions to education, health, infrastructure, peacebuilding and power development.
Recent initiatives include an innovation hub, a $238 million power project, and training programmes to build local capacity. Previous collaborations have supported malaria control, basic education and agricultural development.
