According to Oba Haastrup, the removal followed findings that Gbadamosi unlawfully removed and sold two electric transformers, a 300KVA and a 500KVA unit from the post office at Atakumosa Market in 2023, during the reign of the late Owa Obokun, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran.
The statement noted that the previous Owa had reprimanded Gbadamosi for taking the transformers without the consent of the communities they served, including Araromi, Adeti, Palace, and Odo Osunmu. Efforts to recover the equipment during the previous reign were reportedly unsuccessful.
After his coronation, Oba Haastrup set up a Committee on Resolution of Chieftaincy Disputes, Land and Sundry Matters to address community concerns.
The committee received petitions from members of the affected communities accusing Gbadamosi of the unlawful sale of the transformers. He was invited to appear before the committee to explain his actions.

During the proceedings, the Iyaloja of Atakumosa Market, Chief Mrs. Awe, testified that Gbadamosi sent emissaries asking her to sign a document validating the sale and promising her N750,000, which she refused.
The youth leader of Araromi community also testified that Gbadamosi attempted to remove the transformers at night and offered him money, which he declined.
Under questioning, Gbadamosi allegedly confessed to selling the 300KVA transformer for ₦120,000, claiming he used the funds to transport the second transformer to Ibadan for repairs.
The committee reportedly gave him 30 days to recover and return the transformers, but he failed to comply.
The Owa Obokun then granted an additional week for the recovery of the equipment. When Gbadamosi ignored this directive, Oba Haastrup resolved to remove him from office.
“In view of the unlawful and illegal removal, sale and conversion of the proceeds of sale of the two transformers, and an attitude unbecoming of a High Chief in Ijesaland, I have decided to relieve and remove Chief Busuyi Gbadamosi as the Oba-Odo of Ilesa,” Oba Haastrup declared.
The monarch ordered that Gbadamosi cease to be recognized as Oba-Odo of Ilesa, refrain from parading himself as such, and vacate the chieftaincy house immediately, which shall remain under lock and key. Members of the public were instructed not to deal with or address him as Oba-Odo of Ilesa.
