The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has mocked the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the wave of defections from its ranks, describing the party’s remaining leaders as “undertakers waiting to bury a dying organisation.”
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued on Saturday by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC said the PDP was deceiving itself by downplaying what he called a “mass exodus” of members to the ruling party.

Oladejo said the defections underscored a growing loss of faith among PDP loyalists, adding that the opposition party had failed to reform or present a credible alternative to Nigerians.
“The PDP’s claim that defections cannot weaken it is laughable and exposes the party’s chronic state of denial, delusion, and self-deception,” he said.
The APC spokesperson accused the PDP of mismanaging the country during its 16 years in power and argued that the party had yet to recover from its leadership and internal crises.
He maintained that recent defections to the APC reflect growing confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and its Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Those still clinging to the PDP are merely undertakers, staying behind to perform the final rites of a once-dominant but now lifeless political entity,” Oladejo added.

He urged the opposition to conduct an honest review of its performance and accept that its influence in Nigeria’s political landscape had significantly waned.
