- Strengthened commitment to sustainable food security
As the world celebrates World Food Day 2025, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, has reaffirmed his commitment to ending hunger and promoting sustainable food systems through impactful community-driven initiatives.
Eko Hot Blog reports that this year’s theme, “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future,” emphasizes the need for collaboration and compassion in building food security for all.
Through the DoingGood Food Packs Programme, over 72,000 households across the sixteen Local Governments and LCDAs of Lagos East have benefitted from food support, including widows, women, unemployed youths, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
In addition, Senator Abiru has empowered more than 8,000 farmers with fertilizers, improved seedlings, poultry cages, and other essential farm inputs to strengthen agricultural productivity and ensure long-term food sufficiency.

According to Senator Abiru, “Food is not just nourishment — it is hope, health, and stability. Together, hand in hand, we can create a future where every child is well-fed, and every family has access to nutritious meals.”
His efforts underscore a vision of inclusive growth and social welfare, ensuring that no household in Lagos East is left behind.
