EKO HOT BLOG reports that Jingir reportedly made the remarks at a political gathering in Kano State earlier this month while explaining his support for the All Progressives Congress Muslim Muslim presidential ticket ahead of the January election.
The cleric reportedly argued that Muslims constituted the majority in Nigeria, suggesting that Christians were a minority in the country.
Reacting during a sermon captured in a video circulating online, Oyedepo challenged the claim that Nigeria was an Islamic country, pointing to the size and reach of major Christian congregations across the country.
Oyedepo referenced some of Nigeria’s prominent Christian ministries and urged those who supported Jingir’s position to consider the number of worshippers attending their services.
“Watch Redemption Camp, Salvation Ministries, Dunamis and other ministries in Nigeria,” Oyedepo said.
He questioned the basis for describing Nigeria as an Islamic nation, asking, “And someone will stand and say Nigeria is an Islamic nation? Is he mad? Yes, he must be mad.”
Oyedepo also warned of developments he claimed would occur in Nigeria within the coming year.

“Now, watch, there shall be strange happenings between now and the next twelve months in Nigeria,” he stated.
