- Tinubu Not Missing, Fully Engaged Despite Abu Dhabi Trip – Lagos APC
- Seye Oladejo said President Tinubu continues to discharge his constitutional responsibilities both within and outside Nigeria
- Calls on political leaders to contribute constructively to national development
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu is missing or absent from governance, insisting that the president remains fully engaged in his official duties despite being on a trip to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos APC’s response followed comments by the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who questioned the president’s visibility amid what he described as worsening economic hardship, insecurity and leadership silence.

Reacting in a statement issued on Tuesday, Lagos APC spokesman, Seye Oladejo, said President Tinubu continues to discharge his constitutional responsibilities both within and outside Nigeria.
Oladejo urged political actors to focus on substantive national issues rather than public appearances, stressing that governance should be assessed by outcomes rather than visibility.
According to him, the president remains actively involved in policy coordination, security oversight, diplomatic engagements and economic reforms, noting that leadership is not defined by constant media presence.
“Governance is not measured by frequent public appearances or media check-ins. It is judged by the quality of decisions taken, the policies implemented and the results delivered in the national interest,” Oladejo said.

He added that the Tinubu administration remains active on multiple fronts, including economic reforms, security coordination and international diplomacy, aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and enhanced global relevance.
Oladejo further called on political leaders to contribute constructively to national development by offering alternative ideas and solutions rather than making statements capable of generating unnecessary public anxiety.
Peter Obi had earlier alleged that President Tinubu spent 196 days outside the country in 2025, claiming this exceeded the number of days he was present in Nigeria during the same period. Obi also stated that Nigerians had not heard directly from the president since December 2025.
President Tinubu departed Lagos on December 28 for Europe as part of his end-of-year break, ahead of an official visit to Abu Dhabi. He was invited by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026).
The president arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday and began participation in the event, which officially commenced on Monday.
