These are the three Messi records that Ronaldo could find difficult to break in football before he retires.
1. Most goals in a single knockout match in the UEFA Champions league.
In 2012, Lionel Messi scored five goals in the 7-1 demolition of Bayern Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions league round of 16. Till date, no player has scored that much in a single knockout match in the competition.
Ronaldo, who will be 36 in February still has the chance to break the record, but considering the kind of team he’s playing with now and his age, it remains to be seen if he can equal the record or beat it.
2. Most goals scored in a single league season.
In 2011/2012 league season, Lionel scored a stunning 50league goals, a record that no one across the Europe top 5 leagues has been able to match.
Ronaldo currently has 14 goals in 15 Serie A games, averaging 0.93goal every game, if he continues his current form, he will only score 36 league goals by the end of the season, 14goals shy of Messi’s 50goals.

3. Most goals for a single club.
A couple of weeks ago, Lionel Messi surpassed Pele’s record of goals scored for a single club with over 642 goals, Ronaldo currently has over 80goals for Juventus, it remains to be seen if he can stay longer in the game to reach Messi’s feat.
