The Deputy Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Mujahideen Aminudddeen, made the disclosure in a statement, noting that the screening exercise is currently being conducted across 24 local government areas of the state.
According to him, the programme is being carried out in collaboration with the Kano State Ministry of Health and involves compulsory medical tests to ensure the health and compatibility of intending couples before marriage.
The screening includes tests for HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B, genotype compatibility, drug use, pregnancy and other sexually transmitted infections.
Aminudddeen stated that couples from metropolitan local government areas are expected to continue their screening on Wednesday at the office of the Kano State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KSACA) located along Naibawa.
He advised all participants to come along with copies of their registration forms, adding that couples from other local government areas would be informed of their respective screening dates in due course.

The mass wedding programme, which has been revived by the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, is designed to assist widows, divorcees, orphans and other vulnerable members of society.
Beyond footing marriage expenses, the state government is also expected to provide financial assistance and household support to beneficiaries as part of efforts to promote family stability and social welfare.
