Three siblings that killed a man, Shehu Garba, for money ritual in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State have been arrested by the Police. The three brothers, Saminu Usman, 25; Yusuf Usman, 22 and Muhammadu Usman, 35, are all of Janruwa village in Borgu Local Government Area.
It was gathered that the incident was reported to the Police by the father of the victim, Yakubu Garba, on April 19.
A police source said the suspects stormed the house of their victim, Shehu Garba, and whisked him off to a nearby bush, killed him and severed one of his hands for the ritual.
One of the suspects, Saminu, confessed that they have been in the crime for a while, but that they were only unfortunate with the latest deal.
According to him, “the three of us have been operating for some time and what we only needed from our last victim was just one of his hands for the ritual and that was why our eldest brother, Mohammadu, instructed us to cut off one of the hands for ritual purposes for the quick money we are looking for.
“It was actually our intention to kill our victim for ritual purposes but after killing him, we only cut off his hand, which we intended to use during the ritual. Unfortunately, we didn’t succeed as we have ended our mission in the police station.”
While regretting their action, he said: “We have really disappointed our parents and other family members because three brothers going to jail at the same time is a disgrace as this has dragged the name of our family in the mud and we have subsequently ruined our lives too.”
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, when contacted confirmed the incident, adding that the suspects had confessed to the crime.
He said: “They confessed during interrogation that they jointly killed their victim in a nearby bush for ritual purposes to make money and that they have been in the trade for some years.
The case, according to the PPRO, has already been charged to court.
