Azman Airline Sacks Six Pilots, Others
Azman Air, a domestic airline company in Nigeria has sacked no fewer than 10 workers, including six pilots, on Saturday.
It was gathered that six pilots, one cabin crew member, and three ground staff had their appointments terminated after they were said to have complained in a WhatsApp group over the delay in their October salaries.
Though the letter of termination did not indicate the reason why they were fired, however, a source said, “In the morning of November 6, people started complaining. Workers started giving suggestions and everyone wasn’t really happy with the situation because everyone could see that the airline was making money.
“We fly the airline and we know roughly how many passengers we carry and how many are on every flight to break even. After COVID-19, the passenger figure was very good because it was like people were waiting to start flying.”
Also, the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers’ President, Abednego Galadinma, said, “I just got the information, and we are going to respond appropriately. I can confirm to you that something like that happened and Azman did not follow the due process.”
When contacted, the founder, Azman Air, Dr. Abdulmunaf Yunusa, simply said, “Yes, because of the niche of the works for COVID-19.”
AZMAN airline was established in 2010, the airline operates scheduled domestic passenger services, with its main base in Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
