Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday departed Abuja for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, where he will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of President Alassane Ouattara for a fourth term in office.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Shettima confirmed his departure in a post on his social media page, noting that he will join other leaders from across Africa and beyond for the ceremony scheduled for Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan.
Ouattara secured his fourth presidential mandate on October 25, 2025, extending his leadership in the West African nation known for its strong diplomatic ties with Nigeria.
During his recent public engagements, Shettima reiterated the administration’s commitment to preserving traditional institutions in Nigeria. He stressed that traditional rulers remain central to grassroots stability and play an enduring role in society.


He restated this position last Friday at the 45th anniversary celebration of the Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Sani II, and the commissioning of the Gumel Central Mosque in Gumel Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
