Epe Rotary Gives Out Award As Abimbola Emerges First Female President

Illustrious and irrepressible sons and daughters of Epe stole the show at this year’s investiture and fund raiser ceremony of Rotary Club of Epe Metropolitan, District 9110.
The iconic event, which took place on Saturday 12th December, 2020 at Noforija Town Hall, Epe, saw the assembly and reward of characters who have continued to hoist high the humanitarian flag with their selfless, altruistic and remarkable contributions to the cause of humanity and development of their immediate society.
The eminent personalities who clinched the club’s Meritorious Service Award includes, HRM Oba OLufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom ably represented by High Chief Charlse, The Odofin of Ilara, HRM Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, the Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija kingdom, Hon. Adeniyi Saliu, the Executive Chairman, Eredo LCDA, Hon. Segun Agbaje, former Executive Chairman, Epe local Governement, Hajj Taoheed Fowosere, MD Foltar Petroleum, Mrs. Oladunjoye Stella, Alhaja ( Chief ) Alade- Raji Olushola Kehinde, Alhaji AbdulAkeem Olufemi Igbabere.
Other awardees in the Club Founders Awards category include Rtn. PP Kazeem Adewale, Rtn. ( Engr.) Elewuro Hairu Olayiwola, Rtn. Aminat Oladipo, Rtn. Mark Olaniyi Osifeko, Rtn. Charlse Warri.
The event which also featured lecture and induction of Board of Directors and new members, marked the emergence of Rotarian Olaleye Abimbola, a sociologist and Managerial Psychologist as president of the club.
The Ekiti indigene influence and contributions to the development of education in Epe has in the past years impacted many lives by virtue of her many roles at her work place, MOCPED.
In her inaugural speech, Rtn. Abimbola praised God for the opportunity to serve and thereafter led the gathering to observe a minute silence for the late immediate past president of the club, Late Otunba Rtn. Henry Abimbola Ayoola PHF who passed on recently.
Amongst other things, she thanked members for the efforts put in place towards the growth of the club since her emergence and thereafter inundated the gathering with her plans for the Rotary year 2020/2021 some of which are increase in membership, fellowhip, contribution of the mandatory 10 USD per Rotarian the rotary foundation to mention a few.

” I give glory to God for sparing our lives to witness this installation ceremony. Let us observe a minute silence for Late Rtn. Otunba Henry Abimbola Ayoola PHF, the immediate past president who passed unto eternal glory recently.
” Our club, though young, and very vibrant has continued to grow exponentially and for this, I am grateful for all your supports and looking forward to exciting and fruitful opportunities year of service. By my investiture today, I formally accept your mandate for me to lead this club to greater heights in the 2020/2021 year, as we jointly explore opportunities as dictated by the year’s theme ” Rotary Opportunities”, she said.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that with the proposed and ongoing projects which, Rtn. Abimbola hoped to execute them through application of grants subject to executive approval and also funds raised from the event. Some of the projects include, completion of the public toilet (star project), environmental support, basic education and literacy, economic and community development through sponsorship of vocational skills acquisition, disease prevention and treatment/maternal and child health which will be organized in conjunction with Rotary Club of Wellington, District 1145, United Kingdom for a medical mission to Epe, support donations to the Rotary Foundation towards polio eradication.
She showered encomium eminent personalities who graced the occasion.
