EFCC Reportedly Begin Corruption Probe Of Bola Tinubu
- The EFCC has requested Bola Tinubu’s assets affirmation records from the Code of Conduct Bureau
- For thorough investigation into the corruption charges levied on him.
- The recent development garners mixed reviews
The former Governor of Lagos state, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is reported to be under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG , the EFCC has reportedly written to the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB for documents containing thr ex-Governor’s assets.
This is seen as a political move with 2023 presidential elections in mind.
According to a copy of the letter requesting for the asset documents from CCB, sighted by the online news paper, the EFCC had in November, 2020 followed up on its earlier request for Mr Tinubu’s asset declaration documents.
When approached, two associates who are strategising for the Ex-Governor confirmed that Tinubu is already aware of the Probe and has “sent messages to Buhari for mercy.”
“He told the president that if the EFCC must proceed with its probe, then it has to do so with compassion and fear of God,” the anonymous source said.
Another source said,
“We know that it is the turn of the south to produce the next president, So we don’t know why they are trying to humiliate him with their preliminary 2023 politics that they want to use to remove him from consideration for our party’s ticket.”
In all, 2023 does not seem as far away as we might likely think with so much politicking playing around.
