1. How Saraki led campaign of calumny against me in 2015 – Tinubu
Presidential aspirant and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, narrated how former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, allegedly led a campaign of calumny against him in 2015.
Tinubu spoke at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta, the state capital, while addressing the APC delegates ahead of the party’s primary.
The national leader was accompanied to Ogun by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; his Kano State counterpart, Umar Ganduje, and former Borno State governor, Kasim Shettima.
“You have not heard this from me before. This is the first place I am saying this,” Tinubu who addressed the delegates in Yoruba said.
2. Don’t come for campaign, students tackle Oyetola over bad road
Student body, under the aegis of the National Association of Ora-Igbomina students, Osun State, has frowned at the planned visit of Governor Oyetola to Ora-Igbomina town, Ifedayo Local Government Area of the state.
In a press release issued on Thursday by the president and general secretary of the association, Adedapo Taiwo and Adewumi Boluwatife respectively, the student body bemoaned the poor state of roads in their community, stating that Governor Oyetola should not bother coming to the area to campaign ahead of the July election in the state if the roads were not fixed.
The statement partly read, “The student body frown at the political leaders in the town who have refused to speak truth to power. Our leaders only run after their pockets at the expense of the poor masses of Ora-Igbomina.
“The status quo of Ila-Ora road is nothing to write home about, as the road has been neglected for almost 12 years, thereby, causing accidents for the passersby who are majorly from Ora-Igbomina. We expect our leaders to have written to the state government and act accordingly as regards the state of the road, instead, they are busy praising the ego of the governor for their selfish benefits.”
3. AFCON qualifier: Tunisia thrash 10-man Equatorial Guinea 4-0
Naim Sliti scored and created two other goals as Tunisia began a four-match build-up this month by hammering 10-man Equatorial Guinea 4-0 in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Thursday.
Sliti broke the stubborn resistance of the Equatoguineans on 56 minutes when, after two failed attempts by the visitors to clear a cross, the Saudi Arabia-based forward slammed the ball into the net.
After Joan Elo was sent off following a second yellow card, a Sliti cross enabled substitute Seifeddine Jaziri to ned past goalkeeper Jesus Owono on 77 minutes at Rades on the outskirts of Tunis.

4. 2023: Osinbajo, APC Chairman, 5 govs meet in Aso Rock
AHEAD of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Convention to select its presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Thursday evening met behind closed-doors with the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abudullahi Adamu and five governors of the Progressive Governors Forum.
The meeting it was gathered held at the Vice President residence.
Recall that the APC has slated to hold its Convention to select the party’s flagbearer between 6th to 8th June in Eagle Square Abuja.
President Buhari before he traveled on official visit to Madrid, Spain had met with the 22 governors of the APC, where he emphasized on the need for them to support him in the choice of the party’s candidate.
5. CBN reviews operations of NIBBS instant payments system, others
The CBN has reviewed upwards, the operations of the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) and other electronic payment operations.
This is contained in a circular by Musa Jimoh, Director, Payments System Management Department of the bank.
Jimoh stated that the review was in furtherance of a 2014 circular on the subject.

The VANGUARD gathered in Abuja, on Thursday, that the election of serving appointed members of the executive branch of the state government to serve as delegates to the upcoming APC Presidential Primary, has heightened tension within the party.
Section 84 (12) of the Electoral Act states: “No political appointee at any level shall be a voting delegate or be voted for at the convention or congress of any political party for the purpose of the nomination of candidates for any election.”

7. Electricity workers reject TCN new board
The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has rejected the newly inaugurated Board of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for allegedly lacking representation from electricity workers.
The union made its position known in a statement by its General Secretary, Joe Ajaero on Thursday in Abuja.
The electricity workers noted the Minister of Power who is supposed to supervise the Board, since his appointment, has not had any interface with their representatives to appreciate the challenges facing the sector and proffer solutions to “these perennial crises.”
8. Police deploy air assets along Abuja-Kaduna highway
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Baba said the Force has deployed its air assets for aerial surveillance to address the security threats along Abuja-Kaduna highway.
IGP disclosed this in Abuja at a meeting with Strategic Police Managers and Official Inauguration of Police Specialized Service Automation Project (POSSAP).
He said that the deployment of the air assets was to support ground police teams in the fight against kidnapping and banditry along the highway.

9. 2023: Controversy trails APC House of Reps primary election in Yobe
About one week after the conduct of All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election for Bade/Jakusko Federal Constituency in Yobe State, controversy has trailed the exercise where some aspirants insisted that there was no primary election.
Three aspirants namely: Sani Ahmed Kaitafi, Mohammed Manu Girgir and the incumbent member representing the constituency Zakari Ya’u Galadima
contested for the seat.
According to the Director-General of Kaitafi Campaign Organisation, Bukar Lala, the APC primaries for Bade/Jakusko Federal constituency never held.
“They just produced the result and submitted it to the state party secretariat, but there was no election in the Bade/Jakusko Federal Constituency”, Lala alleged.
10. Kano: Ban on okada still in force – Police
The Kano State Police Command on Thursday, reminded residents of the state, especially, commercial motorcyclists that the recent ban on okada is still in force.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano Police Command,
SP Haruna Kiyawa, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, had directed all Divisional Police Officers within Kano Metropolis to continue to enforce the ban, just as he warned that anyone found disobeying the law, will be decisively dealt with.
He said the ban became imperative in order to protect lives and property of the residents as some disgruntled elements used the motorcycles to commit crimes.
