EKO HOT BLOG reports that the 2022 edition of the Lagos State Man of the Year Awards, LASMAYA, has got several supporters of nominees jostle for the prize in the state.
This is following the nomination of the Special Adviser on Education to the Lagos State Governor, Barrister Tokunbo Wahab and the senator representing Lagos East senatorial district, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru.
The nominees both have political ties with the Epe Division of Lagos State and have exhibited enviable impacts on the socio-economic advancement of the people in the state.
While Barrister Wahab is the Special Adviser on Education matters in the state, on the other hand, Senator Abiru is a respected technocratic lawmaker with vast experience in the private sector at the Polaris Bank.
The annual award organised by the Centre for Policy Development and Political Studies is a credible project which seeks to pay tribute to excellence.
The award platform was also established to identify, recognise and project genuine role models in the state.
It is against this backdrop that youths and stakeholders in both camps have begun to mobilise voters for the two incredible nominees with sterling performance since resuming office.
So far, the camp of Senator Tokunbo Abiru has rolled out posters and his scorecards to woo voters.
“Senator Tokunbo Abiru in his genuine concern to positively impact lives sets up the Senator Tokunbo Abiru Innovation Lab (SAIL), a purpose-driven innovation space to create employment opportunities, inspire grass-roots innovations, build partnerships and drive economic prosperity by solving significant social and business problems,” the camp wrote.
The camp, therefore, identified five convincing pilot programmes to earn votes which are: STEM Education, Tech Talent Development, Business 101 for Artisans and Creatives, Lagos East Teachers’ Fellowship and Startup Accelerator Programme.
As for Barrister Tokunbo Wahab’s camp, the campaign to win home the prize is also on top gear as his footsoldiers and mentees have flooded the social media space with posters.
Without any iota of doubt, it is clear to the blind that the Special Adviser on Education has also distinguished himself as a reformer of repute in the Lagos State education sector.
Notable among his several achievements so far is the transmutation of Colleges of Education and Polytechnics across the State into Universities.

It is worthy to note that the pace at which the transmutation has gone is unprecedented going by the proposal of several other states to convert their colleges of education and polytechnics to universities but haven’t seen the light of the day.
This is largely credited to the synergy between the Office of the SAE and the Lagos State Governor.
EKO HOT BLOG, therefore, wishes both shining stars luck in the contest.
