EDITOR’S PICK:

Nowadays, it seems like everyone has trouble getting enough sleep. You shouldn’t have any extra obstacles in the way of getting a restful night’s sleep, even if you don’t have a sleep condition. Healthy eating, thoughtful supper and late-night snack selection, and regular exercise are all parts of excellent sleep hygiene.

In this article on EKO HOT BLOG, we would be looking at some foods you should avoid eating at night before going to bed.

1. Alcohol

You could believe that having a few beers, glasses of wine, or a nightcap will help you sleep. However, there are three compelling arguments against consuming alcohol, especially in large amounts, before night.

Although it undoubtedly does aid in your ability to fall asleep, alcohol disrupts your sleep pattern later in the evening. Your ability to get deep, rejuvenating REM sleep may suffer as a result.

Alcohol consumption causes the entire body’s muscles to relax, which can worsen obstructive sleep apnea and loud snoring.

Alcohol also has an impact on the esophageal sphincter muscle. Acid reflux frequently results as it relaxes.

2. Heavy foods

Meals that feel heavy in the stomach take longer to digest. In addition to giving you indigestion, fatty, cheesy, and fried foods can keep you awake at night. Late in the day, stay away from items like cheeseburgers, fries, fried foods, and huge steaks.

3. Foods high in water content

Getting up to use the restroom might seriously interfere with your sleep. Naturally, staying hydrated is crucial to maintaining good health, but you should try to prevent having a full bladder in the middle of the night. It is advisable to avoid foods with a high water content, even if they are wholesome foods. This includes cucumbers, celery, and watermelon.

4. Spicy foods

Anyone who suffers from heartburn is aware that spicy foods can cause issues at night. There is also another reason to stay away from them. Naturally, your body temperature should drop to promote sleep, but hot peppers can actually raise it. Actually, getting too hot can keep you up longer. If you enjoy spicy cuisine, consider having it for breakfast or lunch rather than dinner.

5. Acidic foods

Naturally, very acidic foods are another cause of acid reflux.
