11-Year-Old Arrested For Shooting Two 13-Year-Olds At Football Practice

Eko Hot Blog reports that an 11-year-old football player has been taken into custody after allegedly shooting two of his 13-year-old teammates during a dispute at their football practice at the Northwest Recreation Complex in Apopka, Florida, on Monday.

According to the police, the boy, who remains unnamed for legal reasons, is said to have retrieved a firearm from his mother’s car and discharged a single shot, as reported by BBC.

A witness informed the authorities that the altercation began over a bag of chips.

Police confirmed that one of the victims, struck in the arm, was treated and released on the same night. The other victim, hit in the torso, required surgery but is now in stable condition.

Apopka Police Chief Mike McKinley addressed the media on Tuesday morning, describing the incident as deeply concerning. He remarked, “We shouldn’t have 11-year-olds who have access to guns and think they can resolve a dispute with a firearm.”

He went on to say, “As a society, we need to reflect on this. We see this too often in our society now. Juveniles, young juveniles that have access to guns, but the more disturbing part is that they believe that gun, that firearm, is a resolution to their problem. And it’s not a resolution to anybody’s problems. It just creates more problems for everybody involved.”
