Two Feared Dead as Irate Youths Burn Homes, Protest in Bauchi
A violent protest broke out in Zaranda Gari, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Tuesday, following the alleged killing of two individuals by a security hunter (Dandanga).
The victims were reportedly shot for transporting a large quantity of charcoal, an act prohibited by state law.
In retaliation, enraged youths set fire to several houses linked to the security hunter and blocked the federal highway connecting Bauchi and Plateau states.

A stranded traveler, Kabiru Danhajiya, said, “We were met with a roadblock and saw fires on one side of the road. Locals informed us that two people transporting charcoal had been killed by security hunters.
The community is demanding the governor’s intervention to resolve the crisis.”

Danhajiya added that while police were on the scene, they were outnumbered by the protesters, leaving many vehicles stranded due to the blocked road.
