Uganda Airlines Launches Direct Abuja-Entebbe Flights
Uganda Airlines has launched direct flights from Abuja, Nigeria, to Entebbe, Uganda, aiming to improve connectivity and reduce travel time between West and East Africa.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the new route is expected to boost trade and tourism, providing travelers with an efficient link between the two regions.
At the inauguration ceremony held at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Uganda’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Nelson Ocheger, highlighted the positive impact of the direct flights.
He noted that the travel time between the two cities had been significantly reduced, with ministers reporting a flight duration of just three and a half hours.

Ocheger also emphasized the economic benefits, particularly in facilitating cargo movement, which is expected to enhance trade and business growth between Nigeria and Uganda.
“The volume of trade will certainly increase,” said Ocheger. “This will help businesses grow, leading to more employment and increased incomes for workers.”
Addressing potential concerns about human and drug trafficking, the ambassador expressed confidence in the strong security systems in both countries, assuring that they would continue to improve efforts to monitor and address such issues.

Uganda Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Adedayo Olawuyi, announced introductory fares for the route, with economy class tickets priced at $600 and business class at $1,665 for the next few months.
Uganda’s Minister of State for Transport, Honourable Fred Byamukana, praised the strong bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Uganda, stating that the new flight route would further strengthen economic ties.
Hassan Etibunu, Director of the Nigerian Ministry of Aviation, added that the direct flight would make travel and freight more convenient and affordable, benefiting both nations’ economies.
