Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reportedly joined the G-5 faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a group led by former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
On Saturday, September 28, Fintiri attended a grand reception hosted by the Rivers Ijaw Peoples Congress in honor of Wike, alongside Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and other former G-5 members.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that this move follows Fintiri’s public endorsement of Ambassador Umar Damagun as the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, despite facing internal opposition from within the party, including from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who hails from the same state as Fintiri.
The G-5 faction, also known as the Integrity Group, previously opposed Atiku’s presidential candidacy in 2023, advocating for a rotational presidency to foster inclusivity in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The original G-5 group consisted of Governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Nyesom Wike (Rivers).
Fintiri’s recent alignment with this faction highlights the deepening divisions within the PDP as the party continues to navigate its internal power struggles.
