Michael Anugwa, the Deputy Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS officer) and head of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kirikiri, Lagos, has denied reports of his suspension from the service.
Addressing the House of Representatives joint committee on financial crimes and reformatory institutions, which is investigating bribery allegations involving the NCoS and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Anugwa clarified that no official suspension letter had been served to him.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that His statement was in response to a prior announcement by Ja’afaru Ahmed, the Secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), who had claimed that both Anugwa and another deputy controller, Sikiru Adekunle, had been suspended.
Anugwa refuted this claim, stating, “It was a social media report. I wasn’t served a letter,” dismissing the notion of any formal notice of suspension.
The committee’s investigation has been particularly focused on allegations of preferential treatment during the incarceration of Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, a prominent crossdresser, at the MSCC.
In a related matter, Bobrisky’s lawyer, Avwerosuoghene Omuvwie, explained his client’s absence from the House of Representatives hearing, citing ongoing health issues as the reason for his non-appearance.
