Joshua was knocked down four times before being stopped in the fifth round by Dubois’ powerful right hand. The suspension is a routine precaution after a knockout or technical knockout loss, temporarily barring Joshua from fighting for 28 days.

However, with no immediate bouts scheduled, the suspension is not expected to impact Joshua’s plans in the near term.
This defeat marks Joshua’s fourth career loss, adding to previous setbacks against Andy Ruiz Jr. and Oleksandr Usyk. Despite the growing speculation about his future in the sport, Joshua has rejected any talk of retirement and remains determined to bounce back. He has hinted at potentially activating a rematch clause to face Dubois again.
Reflecting on his career, Joshua shared a message on social media saying, “We’ve got to look at the positives… It’s far from over yet,” promising to take the right steps to reclaim his position at the top of the division. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, has also hinted at future matchups, including the much-anticipated showdown with Tyson Fury.

Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren, suggested that Dubois may return to the ring as early as February, leaving room for a potential rematch if Joshua decides to pursue it. In the meantime, Joshua could also wait for the outcome of the highly anticipated Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight set for December.
