He clarified that she has been designated as the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, a point he emphasized during Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s condolence visit.
Speaking at the All Nations Christian Ministry International in Eket on Sunday, the governor explained that this decision was a natural progression rather than a politically motivated appointment.
He noted that first ladies are not formally appointed; however, following the passing of his wife, it felt appropriate and comforting for his daughter—who had been her mother’s closest assistant—to take charge of overseeing and implementing the office’s programs.

Governor Eno assured that priority would be given to his late wife’s pet project, the Golden Initiative for All (GIFA), along with various support programs for women, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups. He highlighted that Mrs. Obareki’s experience, education, and access make her the ideal candidate to sustain these initiatives.
He stated, “Appointing our daughter, who had worked closely with her late mother, as the coordinator is not an appointment as First Lady. You don’t appoint a First Lady. The Office of the First Lady has responsibilities to the women of this state, and my wife had programs she was running—the GIFA, support for the elderly, and others.

As long as I remain governor, those programs will continue. There must be a coordinator, and it has to be someone I see regularly, someone who can walk into my room and brief me, not a distant person.”
Governor Eno further clarified that his daughter would hold the title of Senior Special Assistant to the Governor and Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, explaining that this decision serves as a means of healing for the family and comfort for himself.
He expressed gratitude to Senator Oluremi Tinubu and her entourage for their support and thanked the church for their comforting words, encouraging everyone to find solace in the word of God.
