Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday, canceled his trip to the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit in Samoa.
EKO HOT BLOG reported that President Bola Tinubu had appointed Shettima to represent Nigeria at the upcoming summit.
However, on Thursday night, the presidency announced the trip’s cancellation after a foreign object struck the vice president’s plane during a stopover at JFK Airport in New York.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga explained that the incident damaged the plane’s cockpit windscreen.

In response, President Tinubu quickly approved a ministerial delegation, led by Minister of Environment Balarabe Abass Lawal, to represent Nigeria at the summit in Apia, Samoa.
The meeting, which began on October 21, will conclude on October 26. Vice President Shettima and Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar have since returned to Nigeria.
