Epe Local Government Starts Free Health Campaign to Fight Hypertension and Diabetes
Ekohotblog reports that Epe Local Government under the leadership of Hon princess Surah Animashaun, working with the Lagos State Ministry of Health, has started a health campaign called the “Know Your Numbers Campaign” to help fight high blood pressure and diabetes.
The campaign, themed “Fight Against Silent Killers,” offers free health check up and medication for residents of Epe Local Government Area.
The campaign will run from Monday, October 28, to Sunday, November 3, 2024, at all Primary Health Care Centers in Epe.
Residents will get free checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, and Body Mass Index (BMI), as well as free anti-hypertension and anti-diabetic medicines.
Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun, Chairman of Epe Local Government, highlighted the importance of this program, stating that.
“High blood pressure and diabetes can be unnoticed for a very long time and cause serious health problems later.
“We want to help our people to catch these issues early and get the care they need,” she said.
This new campaign adds to other health programs by Epe Local Government, such as free eye care, free eye glasses and medicine and other medical check-ups.
“Our goal is to make healthcare easier to access for everyone in Epe,” Animashaun added.
A representative from the Lagos State Ministry of Health,explained the importance of early testing,saying.
“Knowing your blood pressure and sugar levels can help you stay healthy. Early detection can prevent serious problems.”
Residents are encouraged to visit their nearest Primary Health Care Center during the campaign week to use these free services.
Mr. Kunle Adesina, a local resident, shared his thoughts on these efforts, saying, “These health checks will help many of us to know more about our health and things to do and not to do, to make us live longer.
