President Bola Tinubu has appointed Abdulrazak Yusuf Tukur as the National Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), representing the North West geopolitical zone.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Tukur, who holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bayero University, Kano, a postgraduate diploma in Economics from Bradford University in the United Kingdom, and a Master of Arts from Leeds University, UK, brings extensive experience to the role.
He began his career at INEC in 1999 as an assistant chief administrative officer and advanced through various positions to become the Director of Electoral Operations and Logistics. His appointment, however, is subject to Senate confirmation.
In the same statement, Onanuga announced that President Tinubu has nominated Saseyi Feyijimi Ibiyemi, a seasoned legal practitioner, to replace the late Resident Electoral Commissioner of Ogun State, ‘Niyi Ijalaye, who passed away in August.
Ibiyemi, who is currently serving as the INEC Administrative Secretary in Lagos State, hails from Ilaje in Ondo State and brings substantial expertise in electoral administration.
At 58 years old, he is well-positioned to oversee the electoral processes in Ogun State, pending Senate approval.
