Sporting Appoint Joao Pereira A New Boss After Amorim’s Move To Old Trafford
Joao Pereira has been named as the new head coach of Sporting Lisbon, succeeding Ruben Amorim, who is set to join Manchester United, the Portuguese champions confirmed on Monday.
The 40-year-old Pereira, previously Sporting’s reserve-team manager, steps up after Amorim’s departure to Old Trafford.

Amorim’s final game saw Sporting stage an impressive comeback, overturning a two-goal deficit to secure a 4-2 win over Braga on Sunday, maintaining their perfect record in the Primeira Liga this season.
A former Portugal international right-back with three spells at Sporting as a player, Pereira will address the media in his first press conference as head coach later on Monday, Sporting announced on social media.

Amorim leaves Lisbon after leading Sporting to their first league title in 19 years in 2021 and reclaiming it last season.
Sporting currently sit second in their Champions League group, following a resounding 4-1 victory over Manchester City last week in Amorim’s final home fixture as manager.
