UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has pledged to implement stricter immigration policies, citing concerns over the impact of high migration rates on public services and national unity.

Speaking during a Westminster event on Wednesday, Badenoch criticized past Conservative governments for their failures in managing immigration effectively.

“Immigration is happening at a pace too fast to sustain public services,” Badenoch stated. She described the current system as flawed and emphasized the urgency of reforms. Among her proposals is the introduction of an annual cap on legal immigration, though specific numbers were not disclosed.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Badenoch highlighted the strain that unchecked migration places on housing, healthcare, and wages, warning that the country risks losing its shared identity. She stressed the importance of fostering integration, urging immigrants to adopt British values to strengthen national cohesion.

“The priority is integration,” she said. “Those who come here must embrace British values to build a united and resilient society.”

In a bold move, Badenoch dismissed concerns about the European Convention on Human Rights obstructing her plans to tighten immigration laws. She also announced a review of existing policies and treaties to close legal loopholes and prevent system abuses. Stricter visa regulations and greater transparency will be key aspects of her strategy.

Although migration figures are expected to show a decline, Badenoch warned against complacency, insisting on proactive measures to ensure long-term stability. “Reforms are necessary to make our immigration system work for the British people,” she said.

Her speech signals a shift towards tougher immigration policies as the Conservative Party seeks to restore public trust. Badenoch, the first black woman to lead a major UK political party, assumed leadership earlier this month after defeating Robert Jenrick in the Conservative Party election.

The former Business Secretary’s rise comes as the party struggles to recover from its worst electoral defeat. Badenoch’s leadership offers a new direction, aiming to address immigration concerns while promoting national unity.
