‘It Could Have Been Fatal’ – Bishop T.D. Jakes Breaks Silence After Health Scare
Famed American pastor, Bishop T.D. Jakes, has spoken out for the first time following a health scare he experienced while preaching to his congregation on Sunday.
In a statement shared on his X account late Wednesday night, Jakes clarified that he did not suffer a stroke, though he acknowledged that the situation could have been much worse had it not been for God’s intervention.
Jakes had been preaching for over an hour on Sunday when he experienced a slight health incident. He received immediate medical attention before being transported to the hospital for further care.
Reflecting on the incident, the pastor shared that it served as a powerful reminder of the importance of rest for everyone. He expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from his family, healthcare professionals, church members, and all those who had been there during the ordeal.

“Serving God’s people is a privilege, and Sunday was no exception as I gave my all in delivering the message God placed on my heart. Even as I sensed the weight of my humanity, I pushed through, only to be reminded that even the strongest among us must rely on God’s strength,” Jakes said.
“I thank God that it was not a stroke. However, the event could have been fatal if it weren’t for His intervention. A heartfelt thank you to the medical professionals whose quick response and expertise were exceptional.
My priority now is to rest and reflect on God’s protection, and I owe it to my family and church to recuperate as He restores me for His service. Rest is not a weakness but a divine gift,” he added.
While emphasizing that the work of God must continue, Jakes also expressed his gratitude for the support he received, praying for strength for himself and others.
