EKO HOT BLOG reports that Speaking at the graduation ceremony for the Executive Intelligence Management Course 17 at the National Institute for Security Studies in Abuja, Tinubu, represented by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, acknowledged the country’s challenges but stressed that significant progress was being made.

“Things are happening in our country today. People may not like us or agree with everything we do. But fundamentally, things are changing. And Nigeria will change,” he stated.

The President acknowledged the difficulties of addressing economic issues but assured Nigerians of a promising future. “The economy is changing. It’s tough and challenging, but better days are ahead,” he said.

Tinubu also emphasized his administration’s commitment to ensuring national security and warned that individuals posing threats to the country, whether within or outside its borders, would face justice.

“If you are a bad man, whether inside or outside Nigeria, you are in trouble. We will bring you to justice,” he declared.

Former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, who also spoke at the event, criticized opposition to the Tax Reform Bills. He argued that most critics of the bills had not studied them in detail and called for better communication from the government to educate citizens about new policies.

Aliyu urged policymakers to consider harsher penalties, including the death sentence, for criminals who kill security personnel. He also criticized state governors for blaming the Federal Government for security challenges in their regions, questioning the effective use of security votes and intelligence reports.

Director-General of the Department of State Services, Adéọlá Àjàyí, highlighted the importance of synergy among security agencies.

“If we work together, no security challenge can defeat us. Very soon, Nigerians will sleep with both eyes closed,” he said.
