Wildfires ravaging Los Angeles on Wednesday forced celebrities, residents, and firefighters into urgent action as blazes tore through affluent neighborhoods and disrupted Hollywood events.
The fires, fueled by hurricane-strength winds, destroyed dozens of homes in Pacific Palisades, a celebrity-favored area, and caused severe damage in Altadena.

Hollywood stars Mandy Moore, James Woods, and Mark Hamill were among those evacuating their homes.
“This Is Us” actress Mandy Moore shared her anguish on Instagram, writing, “Praying for everyone in our beautiful city. Don’t know if our place made it.”
James Woods, who evacuated his Pacific Palisades home, posted videos showing flames encroaching on his property, calling it “like losing a loved one.”
Mark Hamill, famous for his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, recounted fleeing his Malibu home while fires flared on both sides of the Pacific Coast Highway. He described the experience as the “most horrific fire since ’93.”
Several major Hollywood events were canceled, including Pamela Anderson’s film premiere for The Last Showgirl and Paramount’s screening of the Robbie Williams musical Better Man.
Netflix postponed a press event for its Golden Globe-winning Emilia Perez, and the Screen Actors Guild nominations announcement was abandoned.
In Pacific Palisades, actor Steve Guttenberg helped move abandoned cars blocking firetruck access.
“If you leave your car, leave the key so it can be moved,” he urged in a live broadcast.

Meanwhile, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt of MTV’s The Hills reported losing their home.
“I’m watching our house burn down on security cameras,” Pratt shared on Snapchat.
As the flames persisted, Universal Studios shut down operations for the day.
