A public servant, Adeboye Omotayo, has filed for divorce from his wife, Ella, at a Customary Court in Jikwoyi, citing her persistent poor hygiene and lack of affection as the reasons for the breakdown of their marriage.
In his testimony, Omotayo accused his wife of neglecting basic cleanliness and failing to maintain a tidy home, making his living environment unbearable.

“Whenever I come back from work, the whole house is filthy and smelling. I tried coping with it, but now I can’t continue,” he said.
He also alleged that his wife has stopped caring for her personal appearance. “She has refused to take care of herself; she is always looking unkempt,” he added.
Omotayo further claimed that Ella uses their children to manipulate him and shows no love, respect, or affection toward him. Additionally, he accused her of teaming up with her family to insult and threaten him.

In response, Ella, a businesswoman, denied the allegations, asserting that her husband’s claims were unfounded. She countered the accusations in court, although specific details of her defense were not disclosed.
Presiding Judge Thelma Baba advised the couple to seek an amicable resolution for the sake of their children. She adjourned the case until January 28 for a report on the possibility of reconciliation or the commencement of a full hearing.
