A truck laden with granite stones caused a major traffic disruption at Pobo Market in Poka today.
The said driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and veered off course.
Ekohotblog reports that The truck collided with the concrete divider that demarcates the road, resulting in significant gridlock and panic among road users.
An eyewitness identified as Mr. Segun, narrated the incident, saying,
“The driver must have dozed off because the truck was moving uncontrollably before it climbed the concrete.

It was a chaotic scene as people nearby started shouting, for fear of the unknown.”

The impact of the collision left the road partially blocked, leading to a heavy build-up of traffic in the area.
Traders at the road side had to momentarily close their shops to avoid any potential danger.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene to manage the situation and ensure the safety of residents and road users.
Speaking on the development, an official from the emergency response team, stated,
“We are here to ensure that the vehicle is safely removed and to restore normalcy to the area.
Thankfully, there are no casualties, but the damage to the truck and the road structure is significant.”
The presence of the emergency team brought relief to many in the area.
Mrs. Tawa Abiola, a trader at Pobo Market, expressed her gratitude for their quick response, saying,
“This could have been much worse if the truck had tipped over. We thank God and the emergency team for their swift action.”
