The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has clarified that he was not involved in the arrest of popular TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, widely known as ‘SeaKing.’
The social media influencer was reportedly detained over alleged derogatory remarks made against the cleric.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a recent video statement, Pastor Adeboye emphasized that those who initiated the arrest did not consult him before taking action. He further directed that SeaKing be released, stating that the TikToker’s actions were merely fulfilling a prophecy.
“I was told that some people got angry and went to arrest the fellow. Release him; he’s fulfilling prophecy,” Pastor Adeboye said in the video.
Naija News reports that SeaKing was rearrested in Lagos on Thursday, February 6, and subsequently flown to Abuja. The arrest sparked widespread reactions, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding the detention.
Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, shed more light on the situation. In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, Sowore revealed that he visited the Federal Investigation Department (FID) in Abuja alongside human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju. According to Sowore, authorities informed them that SeaKing was rearrested over allegations of cyberbullying against Pastor Adeboye.
The FID reportedly acted on a petition filed by one Paul James Adama, who claimed to be acting on behalf of Pastor Adeboye. However, Pastor Adeboye’s recent statement distancing himself from the arrest has raised questions about the legitimacy of the petition and the motives behind the detention.
The case has drawn significant attention, with many Nigerians calling for transparency and respect for freedom of expression. As the situation unfolds, Pastor Adeboye’s directive to release SeaKing has been welcomed by supporters of the TikToker, who view the arrest as an overreach.

This development highlights the ongoing tension between freedom of speech and the legal consequences of online behavior, particularly in cases involving high-profile figures.
