A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Safwan Fade, has died after being brutally attacked by a group of men in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The tragic incident occurred at a local stadium where the assailants allegedly stormed the area and assaulted Fade, who was serving at the Federal University of Education in Pankshin.

Confirming the incident, Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, stated on Tuesday that two suspects, Samuel Dang Kat and Zatshinen Wubwerwe, had been arrested in connection with the crime.
Adesina explained that the police received a report from one Umbule Boreng Reuben on January 23, 2025, detailing that the attack took place the previous evening.

“On 22/01/25 at about 6:00 p.m., Safwan Adamu Fade was reportedly beaten and severely injured by unknown hoodlums at the Pankshin township stadium,” the commissioner said.
Following the attack, a police team rushed the victim to the hospital, where he was treated and declared stable.
However, he was later transferred to Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) due to complications. Sadly, he did not survive.

The commissioner assured the public that the police were working to apprehend other suspects involved. “Efforts are being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects and charge them to court,” he added.
The tragic death of the corps member has sparked outrage and concerns over the safety of NYSC members serving in various states. Many have called for increased security measures to protect corps members from violent attacks.
