Security sources have alleged that Brig. Gen. Maharazu Tsiga was abducted by notorious bandit leader Babaro.
The claim was made by popular insurgency analyst Bakatsine in a post on the 𝕏 platform on Saturday.
According to Bakatsine, General Tsiga is being held captive in Bununu Forest, located in Faskari Local Government Area, near the border with Ƙankara LGA, both in Katsina State.

EKO HOT BLOG recalls that Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was kidnapped alongside nine other residents in Tsiga village, Bakori LGA, Katsina State.
Reports indicate that over 100 attackers surrounded Tsiga’s residence and began breaking down doors, prompting him to step outside before being abducted.
Bakatsine stated that members of the Kandarawa community, who were kidnapped by Babaro on January 14, 2025, and later released after paying a ₦30 million ransom, revealed that they had seen General Tsiga in captivity. They reported that he was receiving proper care, including being given bottled water.

“This information was disclosed by individuals from the Kandarawa community in Bakori LGA, who were abducted by Babaro on January 14, 2025.

After paying a ₦30 million ransom, they were released and confirmed to their families that they had seen Gen. Tsiga in captivity. He was still being held at the time of their release but was receiving proper care, including bottled water,” Bakatsine wrote.
Naija News reports that Babaro is a notorious bandit responsible for numerous attacks across Ƙankara, Malumfashi, Bakori, Faskari, and Funtua LGAs in Katsina State.
